also i think everyone saying stuff like “why didn’t pheem’s revenge consist of destroying thanavej instead of taking it over” is fundamentally misunderstanding his character and what he was trying to do. obviously destroying thanavej wouldn’t get him what he wants. his revenge is specifically to avenge his mother by obtaining power, something he and his mother never had. destroying thanavej would leave him exactly where he’s always been, powerless. i’m not saying his goal is correct or that this is what his revenge SHOULD be, but i’m saying in his traumatized mind it makes perfect sense that he would do anything not to be powerless ever again
